MARY ANN (NANCY) MAKARCHUK
Mary Ann (Nancy) Makarchuk (nee Coady) passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Montreal on July 17, 1934, she moved to Ajax at a young age. Nancy attended Ryerson, where she met her husband John while shining his shoes during frosh week. They married in 1960 after her graduation in 1954. Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, John, and their children: Mary-Jo (John Kieffer), Susan Sveinson (Kelly), Kris Jensen (Neil), and Ed, along with her cherished grandchildren, Elise, Ziggy, Kya, Alistair, Claire, Magnus, and Katie. Known for her thoughtfulness and generosity, Nancy enjoyed gatherings with friends, lively Bridge games, and her legendary baking. In accordance with her wishes, a private family service will be held, and she will be interred at Markdale Cemetery near the family cottage at Irish Lake. The family expresses gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Parkland on Eglinton for their compassionate care. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice, Heart and Stroke, or the Dorothy Ley Hospice.
